Mark your calendars for Rimer's 3rd Grade Leading for Social
Justice Art Reception! ART IS OUR VOICE! Lead by Kent State Education
department.
Receptions @ Summit Art Space. The receptions for the students and families are May 4th 5-8:30, May 23rd 5-8:30 and June 1st 5-8:30.
It’s
free and open to the public. The children at Rimer are doing
self-portraits using cubism, which is creating images utilizing geometric shapes.
The purpose of the self-portraits is to celebrate and embrace our
children and all they know and live. Each painting will be accompanied
by an art abstract written by the student artist.
Since the spring of 2010,
Christa Boske, an Associate Professor of K-12 Educational
Administration, has curated exhibits in galleries across Northeast Ohio,
including, but not limited to the
Akron Art Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art. These exhibitions
are made possible because of the in-kind donations of galleries,
artists, supply stores, educators, school leaders, businesses, and
nonprofit agencies. Collaborators on the exhibits include
K-12 students, community artists, and Kent State University graduate
students enrolled in Boske’s Leading for Social Justice course.
