Dear Rimer Family,
The first big snowfall will soon be here, and the first snowmen of the season will be created in the yards across Akron! Thank you for sending your children to school dressed for the weather. A hat, a warm coat, and plenty of rest at night can help keep winter illnesses away.
We go out for recess every day unless it is below 20 degrees. The school will be open unless otherwise announced on local TV or radio, on the APS website, or via call from the Akron Public Schools all-call system. Please call the school office at 330-761-7905 to report an absence before 9:00 a.m. It is essential for two reasons. The first is to be sure your child is safe and in no danger, and the second is to allow our office to maintain accurate attendance records for your child.
Scholars leaving early for appointments will not be called out of the classroom until the parent or guardian has signed them out in the office. Please arrive before 2:15 p.m. to pick up your scholar before dismissal.
Teachers are only available for conference appointments. We welcome parents visiting our school and the teacher with an appointment. Please obtain a visitor’s permit from the office before going to any classroom or area outside the main office.
Finally, winter break begins on December 22, 2026, and school resumes on January 5, 2026.
