Canine Companions visit Rimer

TrainingTraining 2Training 3Dogs in training to help the disabled visited Rimer. The Puppy Raisers, Staicey Scholtz and her parents, Bill and MaryJane McGinnis discussed raising the dogs that will be going off to "doggie college" in October. The family received their dogs as puppies and keep them for 18 months, teaching them basic commands and manners. If all goes well, after college, the dogs will be placed in a home to help a disabled person perform simple tasks. These tasks would include picking up objects off of the ground, retrieving, and turning on lights to name a few. The students enjoyed learning about the dogs and of course they loved getting to pet them!
